I have a teeny crush

sorry babe :-)
-but I really like Simon Baker from the Mentalist. I'm not in love with the show, that chick (Lisbon) bugs me, but Baker's got the hugest laugh parenthesis when he smiles. Too cute!
And this show is my new FAVORITE! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It's so cool. Anybody else loving it? And scrutinizing everyone's faces to see if you can tell if they're lying?!

Shea's first chapter book!!

I'm finding it hard to believe that my baby is old enough to enjoy reading, and wants to read a big old chapter book with no pictures. We saw a preview for Despereaux the other day and Chris just went and got our copy of the book and started reading. They read 4 chapters! We read 4 more tonight and are LOVING loving it! I didn't know he'd stay tuned in and be able to follow it. But he does and he loves it. Books are such a huge, huge part of out lives that I am just so so so excited that Shea loves books. He always has, but chapter books now too. Wahoo!!

We really love

Disneyland!! Really, really, really love it. I will mourn, seriously mourn when we leave SoCal.

We hadn't been for a few months and it was so nice to go back and spend a day at the "Happiest Place on Earth." Shea rode all his favs and tried two new rides, the rockets at the entrance to Tomorrowland (very fun!) and the teacups! I can't stand the teacups and will never go on them again, in my life - so thanks Morgan, he loved them! (I adore his, "I'm cool - I'm a regular" pose in this pic.)
He got his customary cotton candy (yum yum, as his face entirely disappears inside the cone!)
And here's the most important: I had my first Dole whip! Holy. Cow. The line has always put me off before - never again! AMAZING. I guess I'll have to take $6 now every time we go - 3 for the kids' cotton candy and 3 for that Dole whip. I'm salivating right now. Hey Shea, wanna go to Disneyland tomorrow... :-)

Seriously?

They make a whole bag of green M&Ms for Valentine's Day?
That green M&M thing is that well known? Who knew??
You can even find this on Wikipedia (seriously! ANYTHING can be found on Wikipedia):
"During the 2008 Valentine's Day season Mars introduced bags of all green M&M's. This was due to common urban folklore that holds green M&M's to be an aphrodisiac."
(K, girls - they're B1G1 at Rite Aid right now. You can stock up! :-)

Sicky sickerson

Around here when we're sick we only want 4 things:
binkie
blankie
baby
and big brother

My awesome new photo wall

I got this idea from my cute friend Emily. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It was so cheap to do and it fits perfectly on this little wall in our new apt. and showcases all my favorite photos from our session with Xandra. Plus the pic of the word eternity (from the statue of the family at the LA temple) is just so perfectly cheesy and well.. me! Love it!!
(oh and the new HGTV Dream Home 2009 had like 4 of these -series of 9 photos- walls throughout the house. Em you're onto something here!)

The boy is a bit confused...

Tonight Shea and I were watching a Lakers game and when they showed a close-up of Kobe Bryant, we had the following conversation:

Shea: "Hey dad, look! It's Barack Obama."
Chris: "That's Kobe Bryant, but I guess he kind of looks like Barack Obama." (Not wanting to hurt his feelings)
Shea: "Yeah, he does. Guess what, dad? Barack Obama is mine and Tigger's favorite prophet."
Chris: "He's not a prophet, son... (he's about as far...) no, he's going to be President of the United States. President Monson is the Prophet, he's the President of the Church."
Shea: "Oh... then my favorite is President Hinckley, the one that died."

Not to worry Republicans, he later asked if "Johnson McCain" is a prophet too.

Bathing Beauties.

Oh my heck they're cute!
(I realize that I'm contractually obligated to think that, but I'm so glad I really do and they really are!!!)

My only Christmas craft this year.

It was a super busy December. Super Busy!!
This was all I managed. :-(
I wish I could have done more (we did sneak in 22 days of fun advent calendar treats and stuff) but this was the only fun crafty, holiday thing we did and it was at preschool. But that's cool, cause all the kids got to do it with us. Shea was ridiculously proud of his and offered to share with everyone who came over. Gumdrop anyone??? :-)

Food

This kid loves food. Shea was and still is a really good eater. He'll eat anything we give him (although most days it takes him an hour to eat it) but I can't complain because he loves vegetables and chooses cheese sticks and crackers for dessert. Anyway, I think we might have a problem with Clare. She out-eats Shea at EVERY meal. She is the biggest little piggy. So right now, since she's only in the 12th percentile for weight, I guess I'll just say, "You go little girl!"

What we did over break.

We had so much fun with my mom and dad this year...

we counted all grandpa's quarters:
(and then he let us keep them - thanks grandpa!!!)

we snuggled and cuddled with grandpa and took long snuggly naps with grandma:

we practiced our walking skills with grandma and aunt jaimee:

we spent lots of quality time:

we had so much fun opening presents!!

(check out my awesome bed head!)

We had so much fun!!!! When can we come back?? :-)
Hope everyone's Christmas Vacation was as Merry as ours.

Christmas in Michigan

was. so. cold! Cold, man, cold! I almost complained that it was 80 degrees here today and then I remembered just how cold it is at my parents house. That kind of cold is nasty, but it sure made for some great moments. Like playing in the snow with grandpa and then snuggling with him to get warm afterwards!

Gymnastics

Shea had his first gymnastics class today. He was a little (ok, super) timid and scared at the beginning, but totally warmed up at the end and had a blast!! Here are the action shots you've been waiting for!! :-)

The kids' room

Since Clare was born I've been trying to figure out how to decorate their room and keep her girly colors and quilt and his boy colors and quilt. I found these online and a combination boy/girl room was born...
They are stickers (soooooo easy to do. No painting, taping etc. It took all of 7 minutes for Shea and I to stick them all up and it was super fun I might add.) I got them in the blue green and yellow for Shea and the pink orange and yellow for Clare. Add a stripey rug and curtains in all he same colors and voila - combo room!

Pretty cute, I think.
These awesome baby doodles were done by my friend Rebecca. She does a personalized Doodle that commemorates everything important about your pregnancy and the baby's first months. I have treasured Shea's and was soo sooo soooo happy to get a matching one for Clare! You can check out her other doodles on her blog and order one for your kids here.
Clare likes her new room. See:

Girls Night Out

So I'm way way WAY WAY behind on posts, so here goes. I LOVE girls night out. Chris has a guys movie night that he does with his friends every couple of months and now I think we might have a regular girls night out. Halleluiah! It's so fun to go out w/ friends and just be girls for a while and not moms and wives. We did this one before the holidays and we're doing another again soon right girls??!!
